Reflection - Term 2

My term 2 started with chaos. I did not have a good opening, as I have no idea where should I start at the beginning of the term, and I have to catch up in the middle of the term, which was a very difficult and hard job.  In this term, I have learnt how to do portraits, which was my first official attempt. The portrait project itself was not bad, but if I have done it earlier, then I would be able to shoot more different musicians, with different instruments and poses. However, some minor technical issues, such as too much headroom, were still exist even I already have one to two practice sections in class. But overall, I think if I can keep on practice portrait photography, I am confident that i can improve my portrait skills. Also, I wrote a book in this term. The writing and the content of the book were based on historical facts, which lead to the book sound not interesting enough. But it was finished in a week, and everything was done in a rush, and therefore there was spaces f...

Finalising the Website

Before submitting all the blog posts and website, I want to double check the links whether they are available or not. I decided to publish the website directly and to test the newly added pages with my phone because mobile views are most likely to fail. There were no serious changes that I have to make, just to align all the components. I have recorded the test but the video size was too large, so this is a google drive link that can watch the clip.  The results of the links are quite satisfactory. The computer view is nicely done, so I do not need to do extra changes. Link for Wix website:  https://p2832326.wixsite.com/thomasnps

Chapbook: Processing Post - Website

Image
After completing the book, I now add the book into my website. First from the left menu bar, I picked the site menu, and choose "+ Add" on the right upper corner, and the choose "+ Blank Page".  Then from the site menu on the left hand side of the page, I drag the page so that it would be under Portfolio, which can be opened from the Portfolio page. After that I renamed the page to 'The Old BUFF', the title of the book. Then, I put the book cover into the page by dragging it from the file explorer into the page. I then resize the book cover so that it fits the page. Then I tried to put the preview link for the book that I have done with Canva to display the book. To achieve so, from the left menu, I choose + on the top, then find Embed Code, then choose Embed a Website, where I paste the shared link from Canva.  However, it was not able to display the website. So, I decided to make the cover to be the button so that it can redirect the audience to Canva and...

Portrait Project: Processing Post - Website Gallery

Image
First, I have checked and updated my copyright information from the year of 2023 to 2024.  Then, I hided the 'Feedback and UX Testing' from my website, since it was tested in last term. I then went to add a new blank page by clicking 'Add' from the menu on the left hand side and then chose '+ Blank Page' on the pop up dialog menu. I then move the page into my portfolio page, and renamed it as Then I added a heading and renamed it as 'Talented Musician' and changed the font into Marcellus with the font size of 40. After that I added another paragraph with the same font into the page, so that I can put my introduction into the page. Then I have to add a button. From the left menu and picked add button, then I changed the font to Marcellus with a white text. I changed the name to 'Back to Portfolio'. I then added a navigation for the button. It will redirect the user back to the page of portfolio. I then checked the button to see if it is working o...

Website: Converting the flipbook to FlipHTML5

Image
After finishing my book in Canva, I discovered that the link to Canva could not be embedded into my website. And therefore I decided to use FlipHTML5 to publish my book, so that it could be able to show as a book in my website, and this post will record the process. First, I downloaded my book from Canva, I clicked on "Share" on the top right corner, then chose "Download" at the bottom of the pop-up menu.  Then, from the menu I chose "PDF for Print" for the "File Type", which was originally PNG by default. Then I clicked on download button at the bottom of the menu.  After downloaded the book in pdf, I then open a new page on FlipHTML5. I went to the upload page and selected the pdf file, and it then autogenerated the book for me. I changed the title for the book, since it was a default name created by Canva, and then I copied the link for the book.  I then went back to Wix, I removed the original link to Canva. From the left menu bar, I clicked...

Chapbook: Processing Post - Canva

Image
After creating the cover page and the content of the book, I am going to combine all my components into a chapbook. I am going to use Canva to make the chapbook. First, after open new file, it was a blank page. Then I imported my cover that I have done in class. After that I added a plain page that has the title of the book and my name. I used the font Tenor Sans for both text boxes, with size 64 and 36 respectively. Then for the next page will be the introduction page. The font size used was 18 with font Tenor Sans. I also aligned all the text boxes, in order to make it look good. I then move forward to the next page, a page that I want to dedicate for all airmen and want to thanks their services. So I added "For all airmen" with the font Tenor Sans in 20. After that, I added a chapter page for the first chapter. Tenor Sans with size 35 was used, and it will become the standard for the rest cover page of other chapters. Then I started with the content. The font Tenor Sans w...
