Week Seven: Website Updates and Evaluation

 Planning stage:

What were your initial ideas for creating a website? style / name / template

Using the wix template, trying to make it as simple as possible.

Do you have a tagline on your website?

No, I do not have a tagline on my website.

Research:

Which designers / artists (relevant to your continuation route) websites did you look for inspiration?

Thomas Struth, Iwan Baan, Michael Wolff

Website: Aero Media and the Fulkenburg

How many pages did you want to make on your website and why?  Did that change as you progressed onto the research / designing stage?

Five, including a homepage, an about page, a contact page, a portfolio page and a page for the project. It did not change throughout my research.

Content:

What is the purpose of your website?

To demonstrate my work.

Who are your potential website users?

People who need pictures of London/interested in London cityscape.

Why do you think it is important to have a digital portfolio website?

It is a way to promote yourself to the internet world.

Design:

Which design elements / tools did you use? (e.g.: infographics, fixed header, static background image, navigation menu design, text boxes, image galleries, social media feed) and why?

I used Marcellus as the font of texts as I love the way it was displayed. My background is a landscape photo that I took the shot at home of the Lion Rock Hill, one of the iconic mountains in Hong Kong. I kept the navigation bar but I change the social links to the social media that I use the most. I also added some effects for transition between pages, in order to make it more dynamic.

Which template did you use in Wix and why?

I have used a template called "Photographer", which is one the templates that are provided my Wix. Not only it is convenient, but also a template that fills my style while displaying my work. I just have to change the name and the background by using my own photos and select the fonts of texts.

How many pages does your website have and why?

Five, including a homepage, an about page, a contact page, a portfolio page and a page for the project.

Navigation:

Does your website have working social media icon links?
Yes, including a Facebook, an Instagram, a Jetphotos, a Flickr and an X links.

Are your pages connected / interlinked?
The pages of Portfolio and the project page are connected with a button.

      Is it easy to navigate?

For me it is easy, as it is quite straightforward.

Does the “Contact” page / email link work?

The Contact page works and I can receive emails while testing.
