Book Cover Creation: Photoshop
Today, I will be creating my book cover with Photoshop. I will demonstrate the process and my design in this post.
I started with a canvas, which I clicked on 'File' followed by 'New" and there is a setting menu popped out. In the setting, I chose 'Print' and A4 size will be used for the book cover. The resolution is set to be 300 ppi, so that the cover quality would not be bad when it is printed out.
After confirming the setting, the default background colour of the cover is white.
I have decided to use some photos from Unsplash, where I found some useful pictures. After downloaded the photos, in the photoshop I clicked 'file' and then 'open' to start with the pictures. I think the pictures are good enough for the theme and I do not have to edit them.
After that I clicked 'Select' on the top bar and then 'All', then I copied the picture and paste it onto the canvas. I then used move tool so that the two planes fitted into the whole canvas.
Then I clicked the text tool and I added a default text on the canvas in order to add the title of the cover.
I changed the title into 'The Old BUFF'. The font Palatino Linotype was used for the title and the font size was modified to 48pt. I also added my name on the right bottom corner, with the same font and font size 20pt being used.
Finally, I saved my work by clicking on 'File' on the top menu and then 'Save as'. The file folder then appeared and I checked the file it was a PSD file. I saved it to my desktop so that I can access it afterwards. Then I clicked on 'File' on the top menu again and chose 'Save a Copy', then chose JPG as my preference for this export, and another setting menu popped out and I choose the maximum quality of the photo.
